CS Aisha Jumwa: I Have No Criminal Cases

Aisha Jumwa, the Public Service CS, claims she has no pending criminal case against her in any court.

Jumwa, through her lawyer Danstan Omari, requested that the case challenging her appointment as CS citing her pending charges be dropped.

Omari told the court that the courts had withdrawn the allegations against Jumwa, and hence the case brought by Eliud Matindi last year had been overtaken by events.

“The court should take judicial notice that the criminal charges against Jumwa were withdrawn and that the CS has no criminal proceedings in this country,” Omari stated.

He further argued that there is a procedure for removing a CS from office that does not involve the courts.

The Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions represented by Alexander Muteti confirmed to the Judge that indeed the matter had been overtaken by events.

Prosecutor Muteti also informed Court that the DPP had filed a preliminary objection to the case filed against CS Aisha Jumwa.

The case will proceed on June 8, 2023.
