Hundreds of protesters have engaged police officers in a cat and mouse chase in the streets of Mombasa, demonstrating against the Finance Bill 2024.

There has been an ongoing mobilization of Mombasa residents via social media networks to turn out in large numbers despite the ongoing rains.

Police have mobilized anti-riot units on the streets of Moi Avenue and Mapembeni area.

The famous Mapembeni area, which was supposed to be the central meeting place, has been cordoned off by police.

A video seen and verified by Uzalendo News showed residents chanting in Mombasa’s Central Business District (CBD).

The anti-Finance Bill demonstrations begun on June 18 in Nairobi as the MPs deliberate on the controversial finance proposals.

Others are scheduled for June 20 in Kisumu, Laikipia, and other locations.
