The 10th edition of the Catholic School Principals Association (CaSPA-K) began today at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa.
The event was opened with Mass, which was celebrated by Bishop Mark Kadima of Bungoma Diocese, who also serves as Chair of the Commission for Education and Religious Education at KCCB.
In the homily, Bishop Kadima called on teachers and school leaders to be kind and compassionate to those entrusted to them, reminding them that their role is a service of love and care.

Archbishop Philip Anyolo, in welcoming the principals, addressed the growing mental health challenges facing teachers, including depression and alcohol dependency.
“These are not just statistics,” he said, “but the reality our teachers are living.”
He urged school principals to go beyond administrative duties and become pastoral leaders—mentors and guides who walk with both staff and students.
“Be the mothers and fathers our schools desperately need today,” he said.
“Journey with your teachers, be present, and be shepherds. Let us be gentle with those we lead.”
Archbishop Anyolo also acknowledged the tireless service of school leaders during challenging times, reminding them that their work is shaping lives, building the nation, and nurturing the Church of tomorrow.
“Do it with joy, with gladness, and in faith,” he encouraged.
Over 1,000 principals from Catholic-sponsored schools have gathered for this important conference.
The week-long CaSPA-K event will continue throughout the week and conclude on Friday.
