Nyeri Archbishop Anthony Muheria has thanked Kenyans for praying for him during his battle with Covid 19. Muheria, an immensely popular Catholic cleric said the prayers kept him going as he recuperated in Marter Hospital.


He spends 14 days at the facility but was conscious throughout the time. Muheria has been recuperating at a church facility in Nairobi.


He is expected to lead the Nyeri Diocese during Christmas. The Archbishop chairs the interfaith Covid 19 initiative. His illness triggered panic in the Catholic Church hierarchy at a time when John Cardinal Njue is nearing retirement. Muheria, 57, is a Civil Engineer, born and brought up in Muranga County.


He has served as the Bishop of Embu and Kitui Diocese in Lower Eastern Kenya before his elevation to an Archbishop by Pope Francis in 2016.
