Armed Men Raid Hospital, Steal Patients’ Cash And Phones

    Armed men on Monday raided the Ruai Family Hospital and robbed patients off mobile phones and cash.

    Guards at the Ruai Family Hospital told police the gang of two riding on a motorbike struck on Monday, April 10, at 4 am and forced their way into the facility.

    The guards reported that when the gang arrived, they were armed with pistols and demanded cash and electronics.

    One of the gunmen fired one round on the floor to announce their arrival, forcing the staff and patients present to cave in and lie down.

    One of the gunmen then proceeded to collect four mobile phones and an unknown amount of money from the patients present.

    According to police, no injury was reported during the drama and no arrest had been made.

    A spent 9mm cartridge was found at the scene by a detective team.

    Police believe the gang was on a nighttime robbery spree when they decided to raid the hospital.

    As part of the investigation into the attack, a team of detectives visited the facility on Tuesday and Wednesday to review CCTV footage that captured their movements there.

    Nairobi police chief Adamson Bungei stated that they are collaborating with their Kiambu counterparts to apprehend the attackers.

    The private hospital is well-known in the area and serves many people as it is considered affordable and well-managed.
