Arshad Sharif Was Assassinated — Pakistan Government Now Claims

Pakistan Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has said Pakistani journalist Arshad Sharif was targeted and assassinated.

Arshad, a critic of the Pakistani military, died on October 23 after his car was shot at by police near Nairobi.

The interior minister, Rana Sanaullah, stated, “Arshad Sharif’s death is not a matter of mistaken identity – I can say, given on the evidence we have so far, this appears to be a targeted killing.”

“We still need more [proof] to confirm all of this… and we have requested further data from the Kenyan government.”

An original police report stated that his death was the result of “mistaken identity,” but a later contradicting statement from cops stated that his vehicle drove through a roadblock and that the officers who fired the rounds were looking for car thieves at the time.

The 49-year-old was a staunch admirer of Imran Khan, who was deposed as Pakistan’s prime minister in April.
