Aston Villa produced their most commanding Premier League display of the season, securing a 4-0 triumph over Bournemouth at Villa Park.
Emiliano Buendia opened the scoring just before the half-hour mark with a sublime free-kick from the edge of the box, giving Villa an early advantage.
The lead doubled shortly after when Morgan Rogers nutmegged Alex Jimenez and set up Amadou Onana, who calmly slotted a low shot into the corner.
Bournemouth came out strongly after the interval, with Alex Scott’s deflected effort forcing Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez into a reflex save.
The Cherries were then awarded a penalty when Rogers’ arm blocked Evanilson’s header, but Martinez guessed correctly, diving to his right to deny Antoine Semenyo and preserve Villa’s clean sheet.
Ross Barkley extended the lead with a glancing header from a Lucas Digne corner, giving Villa a comfortable cushion. Substitute Donyell Malen added the fourth, redirecting a low drive from Youri Tielemans past Djordje Petrovic to seal a comprehensive victory.
The win lifts Villa to seventh in the Premier League, level on 18 points with Bournemouth but ahead on goal difference, and also above Manchester United. The performance marked a statement display from Unai Emery’s side, blending defensive resilience with clinical finishing in attack.
