Azimio Leaders Conduct Campaings in Kilifi

Azimio leaders leading the Raila Odinga Presidential campaign pitched camp in Kilifi county drumming support for Mr Odinga in a series of rallies that stretched to three constituencies of Magarini, Malindi and Ganze.

The leaders were led by Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu, Taita/Taveta MP Naomi Shaban, Likoni MP Mishi Mboko. In the entourage were also Kilifi leaders led by Kilifi ODM gubernatorial candidate Gideon Mung’aro, Kilifi Woman Rep Getrude Mbeyu, Maendeleo Ya Wanawake Organisation (MYWO) branch chair Witness Tsuma, MP aspirants Amina Mnyazi(Malindi), Harrison Kombe(Magarini), among a host of MCA aspirants.

In their rallies that targeted the Kilifi female vote, Ms Ngilu addressed a thousands of women in the three constituencies telling them to vote for Mr Odinga in the August General Election.

Ms Ngilu downplayed the recent foray of Deputy President William Ruto to Kilifi and the Coast region in generally, saying that he is not a leader to be entrusted with leadership.

Addressing women at Marafa trading centre in Magarini, Ms Ngilu said women will be fully cared for by Mr Odinga going by his manifesto that she said is a bridge of hope for women in this country.

“Women in this country undergo through alot of challenges. If you don’t have an access to clean drinking water, or you have to go for a long distance to get water, is this not a suffering. Getting clean water in our homes is a dream that has not been fulfilled. But I can authoritatively tell you that with Mr Odinga as the President, water problems shall be addressed and a long lasting solution found,” she said.

The Kitui Governor said Mr Odinga s free education policy from foundation to the University level is a game changer for millions of Kenyans who despite their zeal to get education, ends in desperation after missing those great opportunities because of lack of school fees.

“The Raila Odinga Presidency shall provide a free education from ECD to the University level. Is this not something to celebrate. That is why as women the burden of you moving from one office to the other seeking bursaries shall be a thing of the past. So as the date for election nears, remember the redeemer of this nation is Mr Odinga and not Dr Ruto,” she said.

Ms Ngilu said DP Ruto has to explain to Kenyans the whereabouts of the Sh14billion lost in the Galana/Kulalu food project found in Kilifi and Tana River counties.

“The Sh14 billion that was meant to produce food at the Galana/Kulalu irrigation scheme ended in his pocket. That money would have enhanced the production of maize and end the current food crisis and high inflation rate. Then with his appetite for money, this person comes to Kilifi and tells you to vote for him. Reject him. In fact is is also the same person funding the Pamoja African Alliance(PAA) so reject UDA and PAA in Kilifi because they are all Ruto’s projects,” she said.

Ms Ngilu also drummed support for Mr Mung’aro and her running mate Flora Chibule, saying that the people of Kilifi will have opened a door of development by voting in the former Devolution CAS.

“The history about development is what defines Mr Mung’aro. He has done alot especially when he was in the lands docket. Many titles have been issued and many more will be issued to Kilifi and to the Coast region in generally just because of his efforts. Let vote for him and bring Kilifi’s great change,” said Ms Ngilu.

Mr Mung’aro promised a 100 days of Rapid Result Initiative (RRI) that will see all health facilities in the county equipped with medicine in the first 100 days.

“I have said this and again I repeat that we will make sure that all our health facilities have medicines during our first 100 days in office,” said Mr Mung’aro.

Dr Shaban in drummimg support for Mr Odinga hailed the Azimio program called ‘Baba Care’ as the best plan to help mothers and children access to free healthcare.

“With Mr Odinga as the President, your health will be cared for because the Baba care program will be programmed to make sure that Kenyans access to medical services and other amenities without much sweat,”she said.

“The Azimio government will provide and opportunity to address land issues and the blue economy to provide a room for sustainable growth of the Coast economy,” she added.

Ms Mboko hit at DP Ruto over his remarks over the transfer of port services from Mombasa to Naivasha, telling the DP to stop double speaking on the issue.

“I am telling you DP Ruto, stop your double speak. When we were fighting for the retention of port services in Mombasa, you called us as education dwarfs. It is now that you have discovered that things are not right? You are trying to use the port to seek political relevance but as Coast and Kilifi people in generally, we have a caring leader in the name of Mr Odinga who is ready to take this country into another level,” she said.

Ms Mnyazi blamed Ruto for the high price of maize flour, adding that millions of bags were lost while he was the Agriculture minister.
“It has amazed Kenyans that the DP is busy pushing blames on the high economic meltdown on the handshake. Bit what he is not telling Kenyans is the loss of millions of maize bags in his ministry. Where did this huge consignment go. Since then, maize price has never gone down and that means he is responsible for this,” she said
