Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has complicated grounds for coalition talks with the Azimio la Umoja Movement.
The Wiper party leader submitted a 2017 agreement with Raila Odinga’s Orange Party as the basis of his negotiations.
According to the document, Odinga agreed in 2017 to step aside as Wiper leader in 2022, whether or not he won the election.
“By accepting nomination of the Orange Democratic Movement to run as president
for the 5th time, I believe my brother Hon. Raila Odinga has committed an
irreparable material breach of this Agreement – defined as “irreparable material
breach” shall mean a repudiation, reneging, a violation or an ouster in any way of
any of Articles of Agreement.”
Musyoka stated in a press statement on Tuesday that he was ready and eager to lead the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) in negotiations with Azimio on the basis of the 2017 agreement he negotiated separately from the National Super Alliance.
But has instructed Raila Odinga to make a tough choice based on their agreement.
It was unclear whether Musyoka’s demands were supported by his partners.
