Azimio: We Are Not Interested In Power Sharing With Kenya Kwanza

The Azimio la Umoja Coalition council has set a deadline of 30 days for the bipartisan talks to be completed after they begin.

The council, led by Azimio boss Raila Odinga and Wiper chief Kalonzo Musyoka, has stated that their talks with the Kenya Kwanza faction will focus on only four key issues raised during the protest.

It also stated that they are not seeking a power-sharing agreement with the government and demanded the unconditional release of those arrested during anti-government protests.

Following a debriefing meeting with its bipartisan committee on Thursday, the council stated that it will not hesitate to take alternative actions if there is any indication of a lack of good will on the part of Kenya Kwanza.

It also stated that the coalition will continue to engage and educate Kenyans through town hall meetings.

“The talks cannot be driven entirely and exclusively through a parliamentary process. There must be an avenue to be inclusive and allow participation of players from outside parliament,” Azimio council said in a statement read by DAP-K leader Eugine Wamalwa.

Roots Party leader George Wajackoyah allayed fears that the state had hired assassins to assassinate Azimio leaders, claiming that execution plans had already been devised.
