Babu Owino, MP for Embakasi East, has called on the Azimio la Umoja coalition to withdraw from bipartisan talks with Kenya Kwanza over the recent increase in fuel prices.
Babu stated that because President William Ruto’s team has failed to alleviate Kenyans’ high living costs, the talks should be halted immediately.
“We can’t engage riffraffs and a miscreant gang whose intention is to take Kenyans to heaven. Kenyans must be brave enough to say no to Ruto for refusing to lower the cost of living instead he’s further increasing fuel prices,”
Babu also criticized the current government for failing to fund continuing university students and raising fees for those entering higher education institutions.
He suggested Azimio speak to Ruto’s administration in a language they understand, alluding to the weekly protests that prompted the bipartisan talks.
The Azimio dialogue team is led by Kalonzo Musyoka. The team consists of DAP-Kenya’s Eugene Wamalwa, Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi, Nyamira Senator Okongo Omogeni, and Malindi MP Amina Mnyazi.
Kenya Kwanza is led by National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wa, and includes Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot, Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire, EALA MP Hassan Omar, and Bungoma Woman Rep Catherine Wambilianga.
