A 10-month-old baby drowned in a basin full of water yesterday evening in Matungu, Kakamega County.
Audrey Akumu, 25, was outside her Ejinja village home doing the family’s laundry while her baby played nearby.Â
She turned back to see if the baby was okay after noticing that he had gone silent, only to find him inside the basin.
“The young mother raised an alarm, alerting the neighbors, who assisted in the retrieval of the baby from the water basin,” according to the DCI.
They transported the baby to Bliss Medical Centre, where he was confirmed dead.
