Barbara Magoha has responded to social media users who chastised her for dancing while grieving the death of her late husband, George Magoha.
Barbara received her late husband’s body on Wednesday at their Nairobi Lavington home while dancing to Nigerian music.
As she dressed in her traditional regalia, she displayed Nigerian culture.
Barbara, speaking in Gem, Siaya, said she grieved her husband in the best way she knew how.
“My husband died at the age of 71, he had lived his life, and I was celebrating a life well lived because that’s how we do it in Nigeria,” she explained.
She also urged Gem residents to mourn in a dignified manner because the family is large and cannot accommodate the entire village during the burial.
“We know you are also in mourning; we ask that you give the immediate family members time to mourn as well, and do so in a classy manner,” she added.
She also apologized to mourners for the stone-throwing incident at her home on Friday.
“In Luo tradition, a wife must open the gate for the mourners, but because they were impatient, it became rowdy; I apologize for the incident,” she stated.
