Written By Ramadhan Kambi  📝

Only a day after he was named in the list of shame by the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC), Kilifi Pamoja African Alliance PAA senator aspirant Benjamin Kai has come out loudly dismissing the  list.

According to the EACC list, he is allegedly said to have defrauded the county government of Kilifi 250 million shillings saying thats not true.

Mr Kai said that he was not aware of any defrauding activities that he had engaged with the county government citing the amount being put in question was fake and aimed at tarnishing his political image against the poeple of Kilifi.

Speaking in his office i Kilifi town, Kai said he had served the people of Kilifi deligently for the whole period of Eight years that he had been office at the county government as Chief Officer for Finance and planning.

The senator aspirant claimed that he has no any corruption track record during his tenure insisting that infact he was among the first whistle blowers of the first Sh51 million shillings that the county government was purported to have been defrauded back in 2015.

He said, during the time, him as the chief officer tok the Sh 51 million shillings scandal to the relevant authorities including EACC and other Anti Fraud agencies to see that the issue is amicably investigated.

He argued that he was shocked to here his name was among the list of those investigated by EACC and said infact he got the news only through the media.

“There was no official communication from EACC to me instead I just heard my name from the media which indicated how this matter was being handled politically.” he said.

The aspiring Senator confirmed that already he had received clearance by IEBC to contest for the senatorial position in Kilifi a situation that surprises him how today EACC is coming out with such fake claims of corruption.

“I was cleared two days ago by IEBC to run for the senatorial position in Kilifi and today EACC puts me in the list of shame, How is that?” asked Kai.

The senator candidate however said, the issue might be having a hand from his political opponents who intend to reduce his political popularity in Kilifi and urged the authorities to stp being used by political affiliates to allow for free and fare elections.
Displaying to reporters his IEBC clearance certificate and a sample of senatorial ballot paper said he was ready to hit the ground and win the seat early in the morning urging his people to shun away from the ongoing propaganda on corruption and focus on changing Kilifi for better.
