Big Win for Gachagua as Air Base Ward MCA Aspirant Abdiwahab Nurow Officially Joins DCP Party

The Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) associated with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has received another political boost after Air Base Ward MCA aspirant Abdiwahab Mohamed Nurow officially joined the party ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Nurow formally joined the party on Wednesday 13 May, 2026, where he also held meetings with senior DCP youth leaders including National Youth Leader and NEC member Wanjiku Thiga, further signaling his growing alignment with the opposition outfit that continues to attract young leaders across the country.

Widely known for his outspoken leadership style and active engagement on matters affecting ordinary citizens, Nurow has increasingly built a reputation as a vocal youth leader unafraid to challenge powerful individuals and institutions whenever he believes wananchi are being neglected or treated unfairly.

Through his public statements and community engagements, the youthful politician has consistently positioned himself as an advocate for accountability, youth empowerment, education support and transparent leadership.

In recent months, Nurow has publicly spoken out on issues affecting residents from Northern Kenya, including bursary access for students, development inequality, youth opportunities and stalled infrastructure projects.

He has also openly criticized leaders he accuses of failing the people, insisting that leadership must be based on service delivery and accountability rather than political connections or tribal interests.

Supporters within Air Base Ward and sections of Eastleigh have increasingly described him as one of the emerging youthful leaders capable of energizing grassroots politics in the ward ahead of 2027.

Political observers now view his move to DCP as a significant addition to the party’s growing youth wing as Gachagua’s camp continues to expand its influence in Nairobi and other regions.

Nurow has also been actively engaging with national leaders, innovators and governance professionals on issues touching on youth empowerment, technology and leadership. Among those he has interacted with are Embakasi East MP and Linda Mwananchi movement leader Babu Owino, as well as Sheria Mtaani founder and lawyer Shadrack Wambui, engagements his allies say reflect his growing leadership profile and readiness for public office.

His supporters argue that his accessibility to ordinary residents, outspoken nature and willingness to address difficult issues have distinguished him from many traditional politicians.

Within Air Base Ward, his entry into the DCP fold is already being viewed by some residents and youth groups as a major win for him and the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

For many of his supporters, Nurow represents a new generation of leaders focused on action, accountability and direct engagement with the people, qualities they believe make him a strong contender and one of the most promising choices for Air Base Ward come 2027.
