Bodies Of Couple Pulled From Collapsed Ruaka Building

The bodies of a couple have been pulled from the rubble of their home which was fell onto by a six-storey building under construction in Kiambu’s Ruaka area.

Fredrick Kamau, the deceased’s son, confirmed the news.

According to Fredrick, the building’s owner ignored advice to halt construction.

Another building nearby was also damaged but did not collapse. The building’s occupants were all rescued.

Rescue efforts are still ongoing by the Kiambu County government’s fire and disaster management unit and the St. John’s Ambulance team.

Kiambu County Governor Kimani Wamatangi visited the scene but promised to issue a more comprehensive statement later.

This is the second building to collapse in the last week, following another in Nairobi’s Kasarani neighborhood, which claimed three lives.
