The body of a 3-year-old boy who was mauled by a crocodile on Saturday at Ralayo beach in Rarieda, Siaya County, has been recovered from Lake Victoria.
Local fishermen retrieved the body after more than 24 hours of searching.
According to Peter Okeyo, Vice Chairman of Ralayo Beach Management Unit, the boy’s body was discovered intact with only a few bruises.
The body was later taken to the Madiany Sub-County Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination.
Meanwhile, fishermen at Ralayo Beach have complained about the region’s high rate of crocodile attacks and pleaded with the government to find a solution.
They now want the lakeshore waters to be protected.
