Brace Up! Tropical Cyclone Laly Heads for Somalia’s Coast

The National Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) is sounding the alarm about Tropical Cyclone Laly, brewing in the Indian Ocean and threatening to strike Somalia’s shores.

The cyclone is expected to make landfall in Jubbaland and the Southwest States, along with the Benadir region. Cities like Mogadishu, Barawe, Kismayo, Marka, Jamame, and Badhadhe could be severely impacted.

SoDMA Urges Caution and Preparedness

Residents living near the coast are advised to stay vigilant and follow all instructions from local authorities. This includes evacuation orders and safety guidelines issued to minimize the risks posed by the cyclone.

Tropical cyclones pack a powerful punch. Strong winds, heavy rainfall, and storm surges can trigger devastating floods, landslides, and widespread structural damage. Taking precautions is crucial to protect lives and property.

SoDMA is calling for collaboration between local and international organizations to ensure a swift and effective response.

This includes having emergency response teams fully equipped and stockpiling essential supplies like food, water, and medical aid.
