Manchester City have completed the signing of Brazilian winger Savinho from French side Troyes for a reported 40m euros (£30.8m) until 2029.

The 20-year-old, who is also known as Savio, has signed a long-term deal with the Premier League champions and will join up with manager Pep Guardiola’s squad in the coming days.

Savinho, who starred on loan at Girona in La Liga last season, is expected to bring his dynamic attacking style and goalscoring ability to the Etihad Stadium.

“I’m a Brazilian who likes to play on the front foot, to be happy, to play joyful football,” Savinho said. “I like playing one against one, making assists, scoring goals too, and helping the team. My main characteristic, what I like the most, is being happy and getting fans up off their seats.”

Savinho’s impressive form at Girona earned him a first senior call-up for Brazil in March, and he has since made his debut against England and scored his first international goal against Paraguay in the Copa America.

The young winger started his career at Atletico Mineiro in Brazil before moving to Troyes in the summer of 2022. He was immediately loaned out to PSV Eindhoven, where he made just eight appearances, before joining Girona last season.

Savinho’s arrival takes City’s summer spending spree to over £100m, with the club continuing to bolster their squad ahead of the new season.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Savinho to Manchester City,” said a club spokesperson. “He’s an exciting young talent with a lot to offer, and we’re looking forward to seeing him in action.”

City fans will be eager to see how Savinho fits into Guardiola’s system, which has been praised for its attacking flair and possession-based football. The winger’s arrival is likely to add another dimension to City’s attack, which already boasts the likes of Erling Haaland and Jack Grealish.
