Car Import Scam: Car Dealer Denies Role Ksh 1.3 Million fraud

Fake car dealer charged with defrauding an unsuspecting member of the public Ksh 1.3 million pretending to help him import a vehicle from Japan.

Gabriel Kimotho Njengo was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Lukas Onyina at Milimani facing charges of obtaining money by false pretences.

The suspect is said to have fraudulently obtained Ksh 1,390,000 from Said Salim by falsely pretending he was in a position to import a motor vehicle from Japan for the said Abulrahman Said Salim.

“You are charged that between December 23 and 24, 2021 at Lavington Mall in Kileleshwa, Nairobi, jointly with others not before the court with intent to defraud obtained ksh 1,390,000 from Abulrahman Said Salim by falsely pretending that you were in a position to import a motor vehicle from Japan for the said Abulrahman Said Salim…” reads the charge sheet.

He denied the charge and was released on a Ksh 300,000 bond with an alternative cash bail of Ksh 200,000.
