Goons Eject UDA Candidate In Gachagua Rally

‘Hired’ goons ejected United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ward rep candidate Caroline Muriithi from an economic forum held at Kimiigua Youth Polytechnic in Kirinyaga County on Tuesday.

The Karumandi ward seat candidate was roughed up as she was led out of the Kenya Kwanza forum.

The attack, which sparked local protests, occurred before Kenya Kwanza presidential running mate Rigathi Gachagua arrived to speak at the forum, which drew hundreds of traders and residents.

When chaos broke out, Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru and other local UDA leaders were patiently waiting for Mr Gachagua to arrive.

Ms Muriithi was rescued by police officers after being attacked by hostile attackers who accused her of undermining a senior UDA political leader from the area.

“They wanted to strip me but I was saved by the law enforcers… They violently got hold of me and started frog-marching me out of the forum as if I was an outsider,” she said.

Ms Muriithi later told the Nation that the goons tried to strip her naked. Ms Muriithi stated that the goons confronted and attacked her while she was standing close to Governor Waiguru.

She accused the goons of sullying the names of Kenya Kwanza presidential candidate William Ruto and Mr Gachagua.
