Chebukati’s Wife, Nixon Korir Among 477 Eyeing PS Jobs

Mary Chebukati, the wife of Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairman Wafula Chebukati, is one of 477 individuals shortlisted by the Public Service Commission (PSC) for the 49 positions of Principal Secretaries (PS).

A number of PSs who worked under former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration were also named to the shortlist for the positions, which will be filled between October 12 and October 22, 2022.

They are: Fred Sigor (Wildlife), Nelson Marwa (Social Protection), Margaret Mwakimu (TVET), Charles Hinga (Housing), Jerome Ochieng (ICT and Innovation), Francis Owino (Agriculture), Saitoti Torome (Planning), Julius Jwan (Education), Susan Mochache (Health), and Belio Kipsang (Northern Corridor Development).

Dr. Chris Kiptoo (Environment and Forestry), Micah Powon (Devolution), Simon Nasbukwesi (Education), Andrew Tuimur (Water and Sanitation), Ali Noor Ismail (Co-operatives), Joseph Irungu (Water and Sanitation), and Education CAS Sarah Ruto were also listed.

The positions have also been shortlisted for Health CAS Mercy Mwangangi and Director General for Health Dr. Patrick Amoth.

Former Narok Governor Samuel Tunai, ex-Kisii County Deputy Governor Joash Maangi, and former Senator Isaac Mwaura were also featured.

President Ruto’s allies who were defeated in the August 9th elections, such as Lang’ata MP Nixon Korir and his Kiminini counterpart Chris Wamalwa, will also be considered for the positions.

PSC also nominated former Wajir West MP Ahmed Kolosh and former Isiolo Woman Rep Rehema Jaldesa.

Alfred Ombudo K’Ombudo and Dr. Irene Asienga, who worked on President William Ruto’s economic team and helped develop his bottom-up economic model, have also been shortlisted for the PS positions, alongside former EACC boss Halakhe Waqo.

The PSC said in a statement to newsrooms on Thursday that 477 applicants were chosen out of 9,154 who applied for the recently advertised positions.

The commission stated that the list will be published on its website and then in local dailies on Friday.

It went on to say that interviews would take place in Nairobi on October 12 before the final list of successful candidates was forwarded to President William Ruto for appointment.
