Child Rescued In Kiambu’s Collapsed Building

A child was rescued during ongoing rescue operations in Kiambu after a 7-storey building under construction collapsed.

The child was rescued alive and taken to Kiambu Level 5 hospital for treatment.

She was crying for help as a multi-agency security team was pulling her out of the debris.

According to a video shared online, the girl suffered head injuries.

The house collapsed on a residential house below it, trapping some of those inside.

Kenya Defence Forces volunteered in a rescue operation alongside Kiambu County Fire & Disaster Management Department, Kenya Red Cross, and Kenya Police.

As of Monday afternoon, the death toll had risen to three, with six people injured.

Contractors’ lack of supervision and greed are being blamed for the incident.

Kiambu DCI Richard Mwaura stated that the incident is being investigated.
