County executive committee member for health in Kisumu County Dr Gregory Ganda has also confirmed that five cases of cholera have been reported in the last one month.

Ganda has noted there has been an increase in cases of diarrhoea in the county in the past week.

“There has been an outbreak of cholera in nineteen counties in Kenya, but the situation has been contained”, he said.

The two cases are from Nyalenda and Kisumu East.

However, he noted that the Nyalenda area is the most hit with cholera in Kisumu County as of now.

“The full report on the cholera situation in Kisumu will be out once we get all the information and measures put in place to curb cholera”.

He has urged residents to practice high standards of hygiene.
