CJ Koome, DCJ Mwilu Get Hefty Perks in Latest SRC Review

    The latest review by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission has seen judicial officers smile all the way to the bank as they are set to get an allowance to be paid strictly to officers performing special duties.

    According to the review, as provided under Article 230(4)(a) of the Constitution of Kenya, SRC has reviewed and set herein the remuneration and benefits for the Judiciary under the Third Remuneration and Benefits Review Cycle that covers Financial Years (FY) 2021/2022-2024/2025.

    The Judicial officers set to benefit from the latest review include Chief Justice Martha Koome, Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu, and Deputy Principal Judges who will all get Ksh150,000 as a special allowance.

    Resident judges will get Ksh130,000 while the Head of Station will get 30 per cent of monthly pensionable emoluments.

    The allowance shall be paid to judges and magistrates whose duties involve added responsibility over and above the duties stipulated in one’s terms of service for which a regular salary is paid.
