Accountant charged with illegally paying himself Millions using his colleagues’ Salaries

BY LYNN KYALO – An employee of a Private company was today charged with using his position as a chief accountant and paying himself Millions of money hence denying his colleagues their monthly dues.

Nolesca Manyonge was charged before Kibera Chief Magistrate Joyce Gandani where he denied the charges.

The accused was charged with stealing Sh 17million from Veteries Sans Frontiers Germany Company and NGO based in Dagoreti Sub-County within Nairobi County.

It is alleged that the accused was nabbed after his junior inspected the Mpesa transactions statements when he was away and noticed that between 2016 and 2019 July, most of the transactions were under the accused person’s name amid complains from employees of the company that they were underpaid.

He had trained his junior who used the skills he empowered him to reveal his shocking deals.

The junior officer then informed the Mpesa line manager, a lady who quickly ordered an Audit into the whole process before strange revelations were revealed.

The Company was using the Mpesa transactions as it was an easy way of paying workers in the rural area as most of them were not conversant with bank account and the accused was the one in charge of paying them.

The Matter was then reported to Kilimani police station and the accused person was arrested and charged in court.

Yesterday, he told court that his friends in the company were simply sacrificing him for some personal reasons.

He said that he never committed the offence and asked the Magistrate to release him with lenient bond terms.

The Magistrate released him on a bond of Sh 3,000,000 and a cash bail of Sh 400,000 with the surety of the same amount.

The Magistrate directed the case to be mentioned on August 30 so that he be given witness statements and documentary evidence to prepare for the case.
