Construction Of The Largest NTSA Inpection Center Kicks Off

Construction of the country’s largest modern motor vehicle inspection station has commenced in the Makongeni neighbourhood of Thika, Kiambu County.

The World Bank is funding the Sh600 million centre through the national government.

It is intended that by ensuring that vehicles satisfy the necessary operational standards, road safety will improve.

The present Motor Vehicle Inspection Centre is located in Thika town and serves around 200 vehicles every day from the Mount Kenya region, Nairobi, and some parts of the eastern region.

Sisey stated that in the six-lane inspection unit, the NTSA will now be able to test drivers using simulators to verify they are safe to drive.

He stated that the project will be based in Thika, which is not just central but also has the most vehicles in the Mt Kenya region.

The centre will be placed in Makongeni estate, about six kilometres from Thika town, off the Thika-Garissa Highway.

Thika Town MP Alice Ng’anga, who joined Sisey at the groundbreaking event, stated that the big project will generate jobs and boost the local economy.
