Cop Shoots Barmaid Dead, Injures 3 Others In Argument Over Ksh.16K Bill In Nakuru

One person was killed and three others were seriously injured after a police officer from the Nakuru Central police station allegedly refused to pay a Ksh.16,000 bill at a local joint.

Constable Nicholas Musau reportedly engaged in a scuffle with the barmaids in the Vegas Club on Wednesday 2 a.m. and is said to have opened fire before fleeing.

“…(He) picked a quarrel with the barmaids at the said bar over bills for the drinks he had taken.  In the process, a fracas ensued and the officer fatally injured the said barmaid namely Ann Maina,” a report reads.

He was in civilian clothes at the time of the incident, police said.

According to the Nakuru County police commander, the officer was arrested and taken to the Kaptebwa police station. A pistol, two rounds of ammunition, and six spent cartridges were recovered.

Police said the three victims comprised two men and a woman and were in hospital.

One of the revellers was injured in the chest, another in the upper abdomen and a third one in the pelvis, abdomen and chest, police who visited them in hospital said.

The victims are in stable but serious condition, police said.

The deceased’s body was taken to a local mortuary for a post-mortem.
