Coptic hospital stops visits to patients

The Coptic Hospital has stopped the next of keen from seeing patients or visiting the accounts department.
In a circular to doctors pinned outside their premises, no patient will be visited.
This comes amid more than 500 people testing positive to COVID-19.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and to try to minimize the cross-infection between patients, hospital teams and visitors, the following will be implemented: –

  1. No visitors are allowed at all for all in-patients at any time for whatever reason.
  2. Admissions in single rooms are preferable but in case of unavailability, then a maximum of two patients per shared room provided that both of them have tested negative for Covid-19 before admission & both of them wear face mask all the time. Those few rooms with 3 beds should only have two patients with the middle bed free.
  3. Covid-19 PCR is mandatory for every new admission (except day-cases for now). For elective cases they should come with a valid result but for emergency cases or those who did not come with a valid result, the test will be done immediately after admission.
  4. The next of Kin will be given the mobile number of the Floor to call the nurse in charge to update the family. The same will be done at the Accounts office.
  5. If there is need for the attending doctor to meet the next of Kin then a meeting will be arranged at the doctor’s office and the security will be informed. Same will be implemented for the visiting consultants to see the next of kin at their own offices.
  6. No escorts are allowed unless granted a written approval by the MD/ Deputy MD to be put inside the file and for a clear reason.
  7. A security guard will be allocated in the ground floor at each side of the elevators & in every floor (4th, 5th & 6th floor) from 7am – 7pm to implement the policy and stop anyone not allowed to be in the floor.
  8. No admission for any type of chest infection and/or fever of unknow etiology.
  9. Admitted patients who develop symptoms or signs of chest infection should be isolated. Full PPE should be used by attending staff and the Covid-19 PCR should be repeated instantly.
  10. Patients & their families should understand the risk of being hospitalized nowadays including contracting Covid-19 infection from the hospital setup.
  11. Appointments for outpatients should be on a long interval (a month, two, three or even more). Stable patients are encouraged to stay far from hospitals.
  12. Out-patients and patients coming for Daycare will be allowed on their own to the hospital unless for physically or mentally challenged patients and children who should be accompanied by their parents or guardians.
  13. Clients coming to the E.R should be left for the doctor to attend to them and relatives to wait at the waiting bay outside the ER till they are called by the doctor if needed (except Children).
  14. Tele-consultation is available and advisable whenever possible. You can book appointments through 0711043043.
  15. Admittance to the hospital facilities is only allowed after proper hand wash, using face mask & passing by the screening bay to pick a token for every person.
  16. Physical Distance of 1.5 meters should be always observed.
