Kiambu leaders applaud Uhuru on Mau Mau road project

Kiambu county leadership has applauded President Uhuru Kenyatta on the progress of Mau Mau Road project.

In a meeting convened by the County Governor James Karanja Nyoro, the leaders thanked the President Uhuru Kenyatta, for implementing the project that will see an improved transport for fresh produce.

Githunguri Member of Parliament, Hon. Gabriel Kago ‘Walydia’ said the road will benefit farmers who have been incurring huge losses from bad roads.

“This road will open up areas where agriculture is being practiced. Once this road is done, food will be able to reach the market in time, reducing losses incurred by farmers” Said Hon. Kago.

In their deliberations, the leaders agreed to work together to ensure that the Uhuru sanctioned project will be complete.

“The project will mark the legacy of President Uhuru Kenyatta and we want to ask all our residents to cooperate with the contractor in order to make his work easier”, Gatundu North MP Anne Wanjiku said.

Lari legislator Jonah Mburu urged the contractor to give a huge fraction of the jobs to the local youth.

“People in Lari have said thank you Mr. President, people have not seen such developments. We have pushed the contractor to employ the youth in all the projects so as to ensure everyone is involved in the road construction,” said MP Jonah Mburu.

The Mau Mau roads project will see the government construct 540 Kilometers of roads to connect Kenya’s rich farmlands in the the counties of Kiambu, Murang’a, Nyeri and Nyandarua.

The highway will be implemented at a cost of Sh 30 billion, with construction scheduled to take three years.
