Vocal Trade Unionist Francis Atwoli has been re-elected unopposed as COTU Secretary-General for the fifth term in office.
In his acceptance speech Atwoli thanked Kenyan workers for showing faith in his leadership.
“I want to THANK ALL KENYAN WORKERS for RE-ELECTING me UNOPPOSED, through their registered Trade Union Representatives, as the Secretary General of @COTU_K. I promise to service you with all my mighty and strength and not betray the trust you have bestowed in me.”
Atwoli has been at the helm of COTU since 2001, when he succeeded the late Joseph Mugalla.
He is a recipient of both the Elder of the Burning Spear (EBS) and the Moran of the Burning Spear, (MBS) awards in recognition of his role in Championing for Social Justice. .
Masinde Muliro of University of Science and Technology awarded Atwoli with an honorary Doctorate of humane letter D. Litt
