The Kenyan trade unionist and current Secretary-General of the Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU), Francis Atwoli, has urged Kenyans not to participate in planned Azimio demonstrations.

“There’s nothing you can gain we have a constituency to protect. Employers and workers we must protect our constituencies we must support the president for economic growth so that we can be able to grow our economy and employs thousands and thousands of young men who are leaving school,” said Atwoli.

Atwoli said he was the first in his community to accept President Ruto’s victory and urged others to do the same.

Atwoli also advised the President to reach out to the Azimio One Kenya leader Raila Odinga and have a talk for the sake of peace.

“Your Excellency, go beyond where you are. Make sure you reach out to any of your political enemies to make sure that this country remains stable and we avoid this issue of maandamano,” he pleaded.
