On Thursday, governors will hold a full Council meeting in Nairobi to elect new officials, including the chairman.
After the August elections, the new team will oversee the changeover of governors in the several committees.
“The Council of Governors will hold elections today, 27th January 2022, in accordance with Sections 19 (2) and (3) of the Intergovernmental Relations Act (IGRA) 2012, and then hold an unveiling ceremony of the new leadership,” the council said in a statement.
The 47 governors will elect a new Chairperson to succeed Embu’s Martin Wambora, who was elected to the role for a one-year term on January 29, 2021.
