Court Blocks Migori Speaker Impeachment

Migori Speaker Boaz Okoth has gone to court to seek orders to reinstate him.

After suing the Migori County Assembly and the clerk as first and second respondents, Okoth obtained stay orders from the Kisumu Employment and Labour Relations Court on Tuesday.

The stay orders put on hold the County Assembly’s intention to impeach him on February 8 until the case is heard and decided.

The defendants were also barred from “dissolving the Migori County Assembly Service Board,” which had been reconstituted throughout the impeachment process.

The court, through Judge Stephen Radido, stated that a decision will be handed out on May 11.
