The former Murang’a Governor Mwangi Wa Iria has lost a High Court petition seeking to stop the Director of Public Prosecutions decision to have him and others charged in the Anti-Corruption court.
The Court in delivering its Ruling on Monday 30th September 2024 stated that it cannot interfere with the powers of the DPP as provided for under Article 157 of the Constitution.
The Court further stated that the issues raised by Mwangi Wa Iria alongside his co-petitioners are matters that should be handled by the trial court.
Mr. Wa Iria with nine others are accused of unlawfully contracting the media services by Top Image Media Consultant Limited amounting to over Kes543million.
