The High Court has extended a freeze order on bank accounts linked to the Chief Registrar of the Judiciary Anne Amadi and a law firm affiliated with her in the Ksh100 million gold scandal case until June 9, 2023.
This comes after Justice Alfred Mabeya notified the parties in the case that the ruling on the plea by Amadi and her son Brian Ochieng to have the freezing orders lifted was not ready, therefore it was postponed and the interim orders were extended until Friday next week.
“When I examined the documents in this application, I discovered that they were more extensive than what you submitted on Monday (May 29, 2023).” As a result, the decision is not ready. “It will be delivered on Friday, June 9, 2023 at 8 a.m.,” Justice Mabeya said.
The judge had on Monday set today June 2 as the ruling date on the plea by Amadi and her son to lift the order pending the hearing of a lawsuit where a British citizen Demetrios Bradshaw trading as Bruton Gold Trading LLC has sued them over an alleged Ksh100 million gold-selling deal.
Amadi through lawyer Ochieng Oduol has urged the court to vacate the order saying it was prejudicial to his client who was the Chief Registrar of the Judiciary as it has occasioned her financial embarrassment due to failure to meet her financial obligations.
