Court moves plea taking for 12 cops linked to Baby Pendo murder to January 29

The High Court has adjourned plea taking for the 12 senior police officers accused of the murder of Baby Samantha Pendo during the 2017 post-election protests to January 29, 2025.

The 12 suspects will take plea before Justice Margaret Muingai at Milimani High Court.

The case was adjourned after Justice Lilian Mutende who was ceased of the matter was transferred to a new station.

The twelve officers; Baa, Linah and 10 other senior officers namely Titus Yoma, Titus Mutune, John Chengo, Benjamin Koima, Benjamin Lorema, Volker Edambo, Cyprine Robe, Josphat Sensira, Mohammed Ali Guyo and James Rono are set to be charged with the murder following the events of the 2017 Post-Election Violence.

This is the fourth time in row that has seen plea taking for the 12 senior police officers adjourned.

So far, Senior Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr. Vincent Monda has informed the court that the case is of great human interest and all suspects must be present in court before the they take plea.

The charges were instituted under the International Crimes Act, 2008 considering the role played by each of the suspects on the basis of the international law principle of superior responsibility.
