Court of Appeal Destroys BBI Process

The High Court’s decision ruling the Bridging Bridges Initiative illegal was upheld by the Court of Appeal.

The Appellate court slammed the BBI process as a whole, accusing its promoters of not following the proper protocol.

The process, according to Justices Daniel Musinga, Roselyn Nambuye, Hannah Okwengu, Patrick Kiage, Gatembu Kairu, Fatuma Sichale, and Francis Tuiyott, compromised the doctrine of the essential structure of Kenya’s 2010 Constitution.

The justices detailed three primary theme areas that were hotly debated in the day-long verdict issued on Friday, August 20, including the basic structure theory, popular initiative, and public engagement.
