End of the road to an alleged street robber as police secures court order to detain him pending his production in court after evading justice for months.
Edwin Amakobe Luchera who allegedly disappeared after taking plea at Kibera Law Courts found himself at a confusing position of the Law after being granted bail over another criminal matter by a different court, a bail which in normal circumstances would have sufficed his freedom, only for the prosecution to inform the court that even with the bond, he cannot get outside the courtroom a free man a police had orders from Kibera Law Courts to arrest him immediately.
Edwin Amakobe was arraigned before Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi at Milimani Law Courts facing charges of stealing Contrary to the Law.
He was accused that on September 4, 2022, at Biashara Plaza in Nairobi jointly with others not before the Court stole a Dell Laptop, 2 Cameras, 2 lenses, speed light and a studio light all valued at Ksh 954,500.
He also faced another charge of breaking into a building and stealing.
The prosecution alleged that at Biashara Plaza Edwin broke into and entered Mwamba Tours and Travel Company office and stole one Laptop Computer make Dell, one Mobile phone make techno, company seal, company official stamp all valued at Ksh 700,000.
He was released on a bond of Ksh 700,000 with an alternative cash bail of Ksh 300,000.
However, the prosecution objected to his release upon paying bail saying there is an active warrant of arrest against the accused person from Kibra Law Courts.
