COVID-19: Kenya records 97 new recoveries, as 3 Nyeri nurses contract virus

Health CAS Rashid Aman has announced that Kenya has so far recorded its highest number of new recoveries at 97, in the new Covid-19 statistics.- By Gerald Gekara

This edges Kenya’s number of recoveries closer to 1000 recoveries, as the tally rose to 849.

In the press briefing, Aman confirmed that Kenya’s numbers were still on the rise, even as the country recorded 95 new cases of the coronavirus.

This was out of 1,096 samples tested, raising the total infections in the country to 2,862.

The new cases were spread in: Mombasa (56), Nairobi (13), Busia (10), Kajiado (6), Kilifi (3), Kitui, Kwale, and Garissa each had one case.

Marsabit joined the list of counties grappling with Coronavirus, raising the tally to 38 out of 47.

The cases in Mombasa were reported in: Mvita (22), Changamwe (13), Nyali (7), Kisauni (6), Likoni (5), and Jomvu (3).

In Nairobi, the 13 cases were in: Kibra (10), Lang’ata (1), Kasarani (1) and Dagoretti North (1).

However, the ministry raised the alarm over health care in counties, as 3 new cases reported in Nyeri county, were from health care workers.

CAS Aman however assured counties that the government will allocate more resources to counties in order to avail Personal Protective Equipment to health workers.
