Kenya Records 261 New COVID-19 Cases

The Ministry of Health (MoH) reported on Sunday that 261 out of 2,697 people tested positive for COVID-19 in the previous 24 hours.

This brings the positivity rate down to 9.7 percent, from 13 percent on Saturday. 

There are 220 Kenyans and 41 foreigners among the cases; 134 are males and 127 are females. The youngest patient is a one-year-old child, and the oldest is 94. 

The total number of confirmed positive cases is now 332,227 out of 3,744,829 tests completed.

The infections were distributed across various counties as follows: Nairobi 155, Kiambu 31, Laikipia 24, Garissa 7, Machakos 6, Tana River 6, Kajiado 5, Mombasa 5, Busia 4, Nakuru 4, Kisumu 3, Siaya 3, Meru 3, Bungoma 2, Embu, Kakamega and Kilifi 1 case each.

According to Mutahi Kagwe, the Health Cabinet Secretary, 426 patients have recovered from the disease that has claimed one life in the last 24 hours.

The total number of fatalities is now 5,652.
