A multi-agency operation in Bumula, Bungoma County, has dealt a fresh blow to the fight against illicit brews and drugs.

On Friday, August 22, 2025, officers from Bumula Police Station, working jointly with National Government Administration Officers, mounted a raid in Lunao Sub-Location, Quarry ‘A’ Village.

During the crackdown, the team arrested one suspect found in possession of 1kg of cannabis seeds, seven rolls of cannabis, rolling papers, and a homemade roller.

The suspect was taken to Bumula Police Station for processing and is expected to be arraigned in court. All seized items were secured as exhibits to support the prosecution.

Authorities said the operation is part of ongoing nationwide efforts to curb the spread of illicit brews and drug abuse, which continue to pose health and security risks in many communities.

In a statement, the National Police Service (NPS) reiterated its commitment to dismantling networks involved in the trade and consumption of illicit substances. The agency also commended members of the public and partner institutions for their cooperation, urging continued vigilance and collaboration in reporting suspicious activities.
