Cabinet Secretary for Health, Hon. Aden Duale, today led a high-level Ministry of Health delegation on a site visit to the planned Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) 2,000-bed multi-speciality facility in Kiplombe, Uasin Gishu County.
The facility, to be constructed on a 200-acre parcel of land with full government support, is set to complement Kenya’s Universal Health Coverage (UHC) agenda by expanding access to quality and affordable healthcare services across the county and beyond.

As part of the Ministry’s County-to-County Social Health Authority (SHA) activation tour, the delegation also inspected the Ziwa Sirikwa Sub-County Level 4 Hospital to assess progress on the long-stalled 10-year project.
The KSh 800 million upgrade will transform the hospital into a Level 5 facility, accelerating access to specialised healthcare services for communities across the region.
Hon. Duale reassured the local community of his unwavering commitment to completing the state-of-the-art facility, which will also benefit from the National Equipment Services Programme (NESP).
The delegation was hosted by Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii, together with MTRH CEO Dr. Phillip Kirwa, and accompanied by Public Health and Professional Standards PS Ms. Mary Muthoni, Acting CEO of the Digital Health Agency Eng. Anthony Lenayara, and other senior Ministry officials.
