CS Mutua Hands Over Foreign Affairs Ministry To Prime CS Mudavadi

Former Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua has officially handed over the office to Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.

The handover ceremony took place on Tuesday at the Railways Headquarters in Nairobi.

CS Mudavadi stated that he will continue and even improve on the work that Mr. Mutua began in advancing the nation’s growth and development.

“I will leverage our position as guarantor of regional peace. I will pursue free trade area and other regional economic blocks,” said Mudavadi.

“Whenever any Kenyan in the diaspora will be in distress, we deploy diplomatic tools to ensure the protection of our people.”

CS Mutua, for his part, expressed confidence that he will leave behind a well-established ministry, noting that he has made strides in championing for growth both internationally and regionally.

“It was an honour to advance Kenya’s interests on the international scene. I championed for peace and security as well as regional development,” he said.

He added that he will ensure that there exists a cordial relationship between the two ministries which he believes will be key in reviving the tourism sector.

“My ministry will work together with Mudavadi to bring back tourism. I will be counting a lot on you (Mudavadi),” he said.

Mudavadi’s office was expanded after a Cabinet reshuffle by President William Ruto on early this month.

The additional role assigned to Mudavadi aims to promote Kenya’s national interests on the global stage and strengthen strategic partnerships with other countries through both bilateral and multilateral efforts.

Mutua, on the other hand, will serve as the Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife.
