Treasury Cabinet Secretary Njuguna Ndung’u is today expected to present the first-ever Kenya Kwanza budget since the administration took the reins of power after August 9, 2022.
This is President William Ruto’s first budget, and CS Ndung’u is expected to read the Ksh.3.6 trillion estimate.
The National Assembly Finance Committee has proposed an additional Ksh.80.7 billion, bringing the total budget to Ksh.4.4 trillion.
Ksh.2.2 trillion has been allocated to the national government, while Ksh.22 billion has been allocated to the judiciary.
Ksh.1.6 trillion has been allocated to the National Assembly and Senate.
Kenya’s debt is currently valued at Ksh.1.6 trillion, and the government hopes to borrow Ksh.720.1 billion more.
