DPP Haji Probes Death Of IEBC Official

Daniel Mbolu Musyoka the said returning officer was confirmed missing on  Thursday, August 11, at around 9:45 am. 

The Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecution (ODPP) has announced that its investigation agents are following up on the case of pronounced missing and subsequent death of the Embakasi East Constituency returning officer.

The IEBC chairperson Wafula Chebukati while addressing the media on Friday, August 12, said that reports received by the commission indicated that Musyoka was escorted from his house to the constituency tallying centre on the fateful day. 

However at around 9:45 am, he excused himself to make a phone call but did not return to the office.

Five days later his body was discovered in a thicket near the Kenya- Tanzania border in Loitoktok Sub-County. 

Detectives confirmed that his body sustained injuries indicating that he must have died a painful death under grave torture.
