David Ndegwa Mwangi, a 60-year-old suspect, has been arrested by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) over his alleged involvement in the fraudulent procurement of land titles for three high-value plots in Nairobi.

Mwangi was apprehended by officers from the Land Fraud Investigations Unit (LFIU) at DCI Headquarters following investigations into the disputed properties located within Countryside Villa Estate along Muthaiga Drive.

According to investigators, each of the three parcels is valued at approximately Ksh45 million, bringing the total value of the contested land to about Ksh135 million.

The complaint was filed by the registered owner, who reported that Mwangi and his accomplices, who are still at large, attempted to unlawfully claim ownership of the properties. The suspects are said to have even visited the land and asserted ownership despite the complainant holding what authorities describe as genuine and authentic title documents.

Detectives launched investigations into the matter and later compiled a case file, which was forwarded to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP). Upon review, the ODPP directed that Mwangi and his accomplices be charged with the offence of fraudulent procurement of title.

Mwangi is currently in police custody undergoing processing ahead of his arraignment in court.

Authorities have confirmed that efforts are ongoing to trace and arrest the remaining suspects linked to the case, as investigations continue.
