Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested three suspects linked to an online shopping fraud scheme that targeted unsuspecting buyers through a fake platform masquerading as “Jumia Shop KE.”
The arrests followed a complaint by a victim who lost KSh105,000 on March 29, 2026, after being lured through a deceptive Facebook page advertising household items at heavily discounted prices.
According to the report, the victim contacted the purported sellers via a listed WhatsApp number and, after selecting an item, was provided with a paybill and account number for payment. He transferred the full amount but never received the goods as promised.
Acting on the complaint, DCI detectives conducted an intelligence-led operation that traced the suspects to an apartment in the OJ area of Ruiru along the Eastern Bypass.

During a coordinated raid, officers arrested the three suspects while they were aboard a maroon Mazda Demio, registration number KDT 486Y.
The suspects were identified as Samson Ondieki Omboga, Dionicious Omonyi Oirere and Schwarz Migiro Otete.
They are currently in police custody pending further processing and legal action.
The DCI has urged members of the public to exercise caution when conducting online transactions, advising them to verify the authenticity of sellers and avoid making payments to unverified accounts.
