DCI Boss George Kinoti Tenders His Resignation

George Kinoti, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), has resigned.

President William Ruto revealed this during the unveiling of his Cabinet on Tuesday.

President Ruto announced that Kinoti, who served as the country’s top detective under former President Uhuru Kenyatta, has formally resigned.

“This afternoon I have received the resignation of DCI director George Kinoti. I have transmitted the same to the National Police Service to proceed with advertising that position,” Ruto said.

The President stated that he will appoint someone to fill Kinoti’s position while his replacement is sought.

Before becoming president, Ruto stated that Kinoti would not be spared, accusing Uhuru’s administration of using him to frustrate those who objected with his ideas.

During his tenure, the DCI made a number of arrests that Ruto’s camp deemed targeted, putting Kinoti at odds with the current president.

Consequently, President Ruto directed the National Police Service (NPS) to announce a vacancy and advertise the position.

In the interim, the Head of State asked the service to find someone who will serve in an acting capacity.

Kinoti has been at the helm of the criminal investigating agency since 2018.
