Russian authorities said on Tuesday that the death toll from last week’s powerful explosion at a factory in the Ryazan region has climbed to at least 25, with 158 people reported injured.
The Ministry for Emergency Services announced the updated figures in a statement on social media, noting that rescue and recovery operations are still underway.
The cause of the blast remains unclear, and officials have not provided further details on the nature of the factory or what may have triggered the explosion.
The incident is among the deadliest industrial accidents in Russia in recent years, drawing concern over workplace safety and emergency preparedness in the country’s manufacturing sector.
Authorities have not indicated whether foul play is suspected, and no official investigation findings have yet been released.
